Getting to Stone

Stone is a beautiful market town situated midway between Stafford and Stoke on Trent, close to the A34 and alongside the Trent & Mersey Canal and the River Trent. The town is easily accessed from all parts of the country by road and rail.

 

By Rail

Stone Railway Station is a five minute walk from the town centre. Stone is on the direct Crewe to London Euston service operated by London Midland trains and connections to other parts of the rail network can be accessed by changing at Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent.

 

By Bus

Reliable and regular bus services operate between Stoke, Stafford and Stone.

 

Firstbus operates a twenty minute service, the 101, between Hanley via Newcastle and Stafford calling at Stone. Click here for the Firstbus 101 timetable.

 

Bakerbus operate an hourly service, the X1, between Hanley via Stoke station and Stafford calling at Stone. Click here for the Bakerbux timetable.

 

D & G operate several local services including a service to and from Longton.

 

By car to Stone

(Satnav and map reference: The post code ST15 8QW will take you to Westbridge Park. The map refernce is SJ 902334)

 

From the north on M6, leave at Junction 15. Continue straight ahead at first roundabout onto the A500 towards Stoke on Trent. In 1 mile take the next slip road to join the A34. At roundabout at bottom of slip road take third exit to continue south on A34. After five miles, follow signs to the Park and Ride car park at Aston Marina.

 

From the south on M6, leave at Junction 14. Take third exit on roundabout towards Stafford and Stone. At second roundabout turn left onto A34 continue for four miles to Stone. Follow signs to the Park and Ride car park.

 

If you're not travelling by motorway,  from the east, Stone is easily accessed from the A50 at Meir (near Stoke on Trent ) along the A520.

 

From Lichfield and Rugeley, take the A51 and on approaching Stone follow the signs to the Park and Ride car park at Aston Marina.

Car Parking

This year we are again operating a  Park and Ride scheme from Aston Marina, which lies on the A51 as you approach Stone from the south. The Park and Ride will be clearly signposted from the A34 north and south. Follow the yellow direction signs.

 

All public car parks in the town are clearly signed but we strongly recommend that you use the Park and Ride car parks.  For more details take a look at the parking page.

 

By Canal

The Trent and Mersey Canal runs through the town and there is ample towpath mooring. Further information can be found on the following websites.
