Friday, 20th October saw movers and shakers of the Staffordshire culinary scene attend a glittering ceremony at Lichfield Cathedral to mark the NFU Mutual Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards 2017.
The 2017 Stone Food & Drink Festival, which is set to take place over the weekend of 6, 7 & 8 of October 2017, has once again attracted great support from the local business community.
No less than 9 official sponsors have pledged their support this year; including Stone-based estate agent Tinsley Garner which is sponsoring the live music stage; Market Drayton’s Joule’s Brewery which is sponsoring the visitor wristbands; Platt’s Garage Group, which has sales centres in both Stafford and Stoke, is sponsoring the Talks & Tastings Tent and new sponsor, Park Foster Care, will sponsor the festival’s ‘Little Foodies’ Zone’. Alongside these major event sponsors, Gold Package supporters include luxury car specialist Dave Fox Cars, The Hanley Economic building society and Stone independent travel specialist Regent Travel, while R.A. Knight & Co Accountants is sponsoring the town centre Tapas Trail.
Support for the event doesn’t end there; Aston Marina will once again be supporting the event by hosting the festival Park & Ride service and Brown’s Waste Management Services for the provision of skips and recycling services and there are many more who back the festival, as Festival Chairman Richard Stevens says:
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the businesses who are sponsoring the event this year – as a not for profit, community interest organisation the festival relies heavily on the support of local businesses to ensure its long-term survival and to enable us to continue improving and expanding the event year on year. This is only the second year we have been actively seeking sponsorship after our original long-term sponsors’ term came to a close, so it’s great to see so much enthusiasm from the local business community.
“We’d also like to thank all the other businesses that help us in one way or another throughout the year – it’s impossible to mention them all here, but their contributions are all hugely appreciated.”
And its not just in a sponsorship capacity that businesses are getting behind the event – once again shops, pubs and restaurants in and around Stone are getting into the festival spirit and hosting a wide range of special offers and events throughout the week running up to the ‘big weekend’.
The 2017 Stone Food & Drink Festival will take place at Stone’s Westbridge Park on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October. For more information on the festival itself and for full listings of all the events taking place in food festival week, visit www.stonefooddrink.org.uk
