Willmott Dixon shows its support for the 2018 Stone Food & Drink Festival

Willmott Dixon, the lead contractor for the development of the new Stone Leisure Centre, has shown its support for the 2018 Stone Food & Drink Festival by sponsoring the event’s Demonstration Kitchen.

Securing business sponsors is vital to the festival which, as a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company (CIC), is run by a team of volunteers. Willmott Dixon’s support of the Demonstration Kitchen will provide a cash injection for one of the festival’s most popular attractions, which will see no less than twelve top local chefs perform free, live cookery demonstrations over the weekend of Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October 2018.

Simon Liversage, Director at Willmott Dixon, explains why they are keen to support the event:

“As the main contractor for the new Stone Leisure Centre, Willmott Dixon is happy to be supporting the Stone Food and Drink Festival. As Westbridge Park is home to our site team until the leisure centre is completed, this event is the perfect opportunity for us to further integrate with the local community. Community engagement and leaving a legacy in the areas in which we work are important to us and we look forward to meeting local residents and visitors at the event.”

The line-up in the Willmott Dixon Demonstration Kitchen this year includes, on the Friday, double-act Allan Jones & James Jefferies of Keele Hall, freelance chef Mike Hughes who will be taking on the ‘Gourmet Marquee Sweep’ and Health Food guru Gemma Bloor of RAWR.

On Saturday, founder of Orchard Pigs Robert Didier will share the bill with Stafford College Chef Lecturer Richard Finney, Zalena Vandrewala of Indian cookery school Rose Petals & Rice and award-winning local butcher Nick Griffin before Mike Hughes once again takes on the challenge of the Gourmet Marquee Sweep. Sunday’s chefs are Mark Rawlinson of Aston Marina’s No.26 restaurant; Moddershall Oaks’ Adrian Robert; Stafford College Chef Lecturer Tom Harrison; Jack Lowndes of Stone’s Little Seeds and Robert Didier of Orchard Pigs.

Stone Food & Drink Festival Chairman, Richard Stevens, says:

“We are delighted that Willmott Dixon has come on board as a sponsor for the festival and are hugely grateful for their support. Sponsorship allows us, as a not-for-profit company, to keep adding fresh and exciting attractions to the event year on year. Every penny is ploughed back into the festival, so this kind of support helps to cover some of the exceptionally high logistical costs of putting on an event on this scale and helps future proof the event.”

 The 2018 Stone Food & Drink festival will take place on the town’s Westbridge Park on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October; with a Park & Ride service operating from Aston Marina on the A51.
